Amar’e Stoudemire Says The Golden State Warriors Are Still A Championship Away From Being A Dynasty

The Golden State Warriors won their first NBA championship in 2015 with a core of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and head coach Steve Kerr. Eight years later, they ran it back with the same core to reach their sixth NBA Finals in eight years.

They won three NBA championships along way and have been considered as a dynasty by the vast majority of NBA fans. However, former Phoenix Suns star Amar’e Stoudemire believes they are yet to own that mantra.

Appearing on ESPN’s Get Up, Stoudemire said that the Warriors would have to win this year’s NBA championship before they can be called a dynasty team.

“They have to win this one to become a dynasty team,” Stoudemire said. “From my understanding, dynasty teams are the teams that win three championships in a row. That becomes a dynasty, right?”

“So, I think the terminology of dynasty has been somewhat shifted a bit because now you have teams that have been to the Finals, with the Warriors for example, they’ve been to the Finals six times. They won, but they haven’t won three in a row, which is a difficult thing. So, what’s the definition of dynasty? Does that mean three in a row championships or going to the Finals multiple times?”
