Anthony Davis Says Rob Pelinka Was Like A Stalking Girlfriend During Free Agency

This past NBA summer, after months of going back and forth, the Los Angeles Lakers and New Orleans Pelicans agreed on a trade.

After a trade had failed before last season’s trade deadline, both teams’ season got derailed in the aftermath.

While the Lakers now are an absolute top contender, the Pelicans have a great young core, with the chance to become a force in this league for years to come.

Despite initial worries, the Lakers managed to build a fitting and competent roster around their two stars, Davis and James. While building said roster, Lakers GM Rob Pelinka, apparently was constantly in contact with Davis, to see which players he would like to have around. Pelinka apparently was in touch with Davis so much, that he is now comparing him to a stalking girlfriend.

Per ESPN:

“We were doing constant calls about, ‘What do you think of this or this player? Rob was almost like a stalking girlfriend. He was an agent, so he’s played both sides. He knows that in order for stuff to work the players have to be involved. And he tried to make sure that LeBron and I were involved as much as possible. During free agency, every decision I got a text or a call, even just two minutes, ‘Look, this is going on. … How do you feel? OK, cool.’

Every single decision. I [have] never been involved so much. No matter who the player was, he wanted to make sure. It was on everything. And it was like, ‘Wow.’ To the point where I was like, ‘All right, Rob, stop calling me.’”
