Antoine Walker Believes Celtics Did The Right Call In Not Trading For James Harden: “You Can’t Win With That Style”

When James Harden was the biggest commodity of the rumor mill earlier this season, there were several teams who were reported to be in trade talks to acquire the former Houston Rockets superstar, and one of them were the Boston Celtics.

However, trade scenarios involving both teams didn’t fall through due to the fact that the Danny Ainge and the Celtics were unwilling to meet Houston’s asking price which involved Jaylen Brown, Marcus Smart and a few first-round picks for Harden.

As things stand now, some chit-chat has been surfacing whether the Celtics were smart enough not to trade for the now-Brooklyn Nets superstar considering that the team is currently playing under their season expectations.

The answer is clear for former Boston Celtics forward Antoine Walker, the Celtics indeed did the right move not to pull the trigger.

Per CBS Sports:

“I’m not a James Harden guy, and it’s not personal but you can’t win with that style,” Walker said during an appearance on the “All Things Covered” podcast with Patrick Peterson and Bryant McFadden.

“He’s in a very unique situation with [Kevin] Durant and Kyrie [Irving], but it remains to be seen … I don’t think you can win with his style. Any time it takes a guy six, seven, eight dribbles to get to where he has to go, that’s a problem. It works today because it’s more of a pick-and-roll league, so he gets away with a lot of things now, but I would not leverage my future for James Harden.”
