Matt Barnes Asks Judge To Reduce Child Support Payments To Ex-Wife, As He Has Full Custody Of Their Kids

Matt Barnes and his ex-wife Gloria Govan have been in the news more than they wanted to in recent years. After their divorce, Govan started dating Derek Fisher, which led to Barnes beating up Fisher.

Other NBA players (familiar with Fisher) are not trusting him anymore. This could also be a possible explanation why he hasn’t gotten another opportunity as an NBA head, or assistant coach.

Barnes recently received full custody of the former couples’ nine-year-old twin boys. He soon is about to be heading to court again, as he is looking to lower his child support payments. His ex-wife, even though Barnes himself takes care of the kids, is still receiving $20,000 per month. Even though the former NBA Champion has been retired for a while now, he’s still making about $161,000 a month from his last NBA contract.

“In new documents obtained by The Blast, Barnes says since his custody of his children has increased to full custody, amid his ongoing dispute with Govan, he believes his support payments should be lowered as well.

Barnes says he’s currently paying $20,000 a month and is covering the cost of the boys’ private school tuition.
