Carmelo Anthony Calls Knicks Devastating Loss “Unacceptable”

Another night, another devastating loss for the New York Knicks. The Knicks’ 2016-17 season–which was projected to be the best of recent years because of their revamped roster–has been nothing but a letdown.

On Wednesday night, the Knicks fell to the Philadelphia 76ers, 98-97, due to T.J. McConnell’s game-winning buzzer-beater.

The New York Knicks lead by as much as ten points with three minutes left and still collapsed. A string of quick points from the 76ers allowed them to come within one point with under 30 seconds remaining. After a wide-open three-pointer from Knicks star Kristaps Porzingis air balled, Philadelphia pushed the ball and T.J. McConnell nailed a turnaround jumper over the outstretched hand of Porzingis. 76ers players sprinted on the court to celebrate with their point guard had done.

“Very, very disappointing,” Knicks star Carmelo Anthony said following the loss.” “… I don’t even know what to say about this one.”

This loss brought New York’s record to 17-22 on the season and 1-9 over their last ten games. It was the second time over their last five they’ve lost on a buzzer beater. Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo stunned New York last week with one of his down.

Carmelo Anthony calls New York’s loss to Philadelphia as an unacceptable one.

“We should tell ourselves that it’s unacceptable,” Anthony added. “We were winning this game coming down the stretch. We were winning with 20-something seconds left. We came up short. So it should be unacceptable to all of us.”

The entire 2016-17 season should go down as “unacceptable.” New York brought in a few big names that were supposed to turn them into a winning franchise; it has yet to happen.
