After Charles Barkley’s Trade To Lakers Bursted, He Played For The Sixers While Being Drunk

To this day, Charles Barkley remains one of the most underrated players to ever play in this league. This simply dates back to him not winning a championship. He was an undersized power forward, standing at only 6’5, who nontheless was averaging more rebounds than Shaquille O’Neal in his prime.

His career achievements speak for itself. Barkley was an 11 time All-Star, a member of 11 All-NBA Teams, as well as the league’s MVP in 1993. Aside from being one of the greatest power forwards in history, the Chuckster also is one of the funniest and most honest people around the NBA, which causes controversy at times.

When Chuck was guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live, he told the story of how he almost was traded from the 76ers to the Lakers.

“I get a call from my agent one morning, and he says, ‘I think we’ve got a deal, you’re going to the Lakers,’ I was so excited, so me and my boys went out to celebrate. We started getting drunk in the middle of the day. My agent called me back about three hours later. He says, ‘The Sixers pulled out of the deal,’ and we’ve got a game that night. I don’t remember anything about that game. First of all, I was so pissed, but I was so drunk, too. I have no idea what happened that game.”
