Danny Green On Potential Donald Trump Visit At The White House: ‘It’s A Hard No’

When the Golden State Warriors won the NBA championship in 2017, it was obvious that the decade long era of NBA champions visiting the White House would come to an end.

After Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry and Steve Kerr, among others, publicly stated that they wouln’t visit the president, Donald Trump withdrew the Warriors’ White House invitation. After the team repeated last year, there wasn’t even a discussion whether they should go anymore. They didn’t want to and probably weren’t invited in the first place.

This year, the NBA Champion is coming from a different country for the first time in history. While it is very likely for the team to visit the Canadian Parliament, Donald Trump has voiced his interest to host the Champs at the White House, as well.

Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau was in Washington this past Thursday to meet with U.S President, Donald Trump, who was asked about inviting the Raptors to the White House. Trump said:

“We thought about that. That’s an interesting question… That was a great job by a great team, so we’ll think about that. If they’d like to do it, we’ll think about that.”

But, as expected, the Raptors aren’t interested. Danny Green was guest on Yahoo Sports’ “Inside The Green Room” yesterday and was asked about a possible White House visit, to which Green replied:

“I just don’t think that we accept. And I try to respect everybody in every field that they do regardless of how crazy things are. But he makes it really hard. He makes it very, very tough to respect how he goes about things and does things. To put it politely, I think it’s a hard no.”
