DeMarcus Cousins Considers Re-Signing With Warriors For One More Year

This summer, DeMarcus Cousins shocked the world when he signed a one-year, $5.3 million deal with the back-to-back Champions, the Golden State Warriors.

Just when we thought the West was about to become competitive again, after LeBron signed with the Lakers, another All-Star joined the Dubs. When Cousins returns from his injury, Golden State will have a starting five, solely consisting out of All-Stars. The question is: when will Boogie return, and how, after a servere injury like that.

We still don’t have a timetable for his return, but Cousins has been practicing with the Warriors G-League affiliate, the Santa Cruz Warriors. He also is part of some Warriors activities, and it appears that a comeback is just around the corner.

While we first thought that Boogie basically only is a charity case for the Warriors, even more so after a Steve Kerr statement (“We’re not going to have money to sign him next year so we’d like to help him win a championship and sign a great contract somewhere else.”), things could come differently than most are thinking. At least if we believe one insider.

Via Marc Stein of The New York Times:

“Allow me to also pass on one of the wildest predictions I’ve heard lately, from one wise insider, who thinks even DeMarcus Cousins will consider re-upping with the Warriors for one more season despite the (comparatively) minuscule raise they can offer on Cousins’ current $5.3 million salary.”

Just imagine a Warriors team with a fully healthy Cousins who’s played the playoffs and went through a full training camp with the team. Then the possibility of the other stars staying. It would mean another championship.
