Deron Williams Admits He’s A Little Jealous Of Chris Paul

Fans used to have lengthy debates about Deron Williams and Chris Paul in terms of being the best point guard in the NBA right around the mid-2000s to early 2010s. At one point, the gap was so close that you couldn’t really go wrong with either one.

Williams used to be a beast for the Utah Jazz. He didn’t have as much of those fancy statistical numbers nor do individual awards as CP3 during their prime years, but the former Jazz superstar definitely had his edges and would always get the last laugh in their head-to-head matchups.

Over time, the dust inevitably settled and the debate came out in favor of the former New Orleans Hornets point guard.

Today, Paul remains one of the top point guards in the NBA at the age of 36, while Williams, who is years removed from his retirement, is transitioning into boxing as he’s set to fight against a former NFL running back next month.

During a press conference for Williams’ upcoming boxing match, the retired three-time All-Star had the chance to talk about his former NBA rival. Watching CP3 still play at a high level today, Williams admitted that he’s actually a little jealous of him.

Per ESPN:

“It’s very impressive,” Williams said of Paul. “A little jealous that he’s still out there doing his thing. I actually just talked to him last week. Once they announced the fight, he called me right away. He’s trying to come down to the fight and he couldn’t get front-row tickets. I said, ‘If CP3 can’t get front rows, that means they’re going like hot cakes.'”
