Despite Fultz, Ben Simmons Expects To Play Point Guard

In this coming season, the Philadelphia 76ers will be having the rare opportunity to play two rookies who were drafted No. 1 overall. 2016’s No.1 pick Ben Simmons, who missed all of last year, due to his broken foot, and this year’s No.1 pick, Markelle Fultz.

Even though Ben Simmons is almost 7 feet tall, and Markelle Fultz ‘only’ is 6 ft and 4 inches, both may compete for the same position – point guard.

Apparently, the Philadelphia 76ers intend to start Ben Simmons at point, meaning Fultz, who played point guard in college, would switch over to the two.

During the 76ers Summer League game last night, Simmons was interviewed by ESPN. He was asked what role he’ll be playing this coming season. Simmons replied:

“I think, the coach wants to start me at the point, but I think once we get into the flow of things, I think we’ll be a quick paced team.”

He later added: “You can move me anywhere. But I’m a starting point guard. I have no problem sharing the ball. Fultz doesn’t, either. Watching him play, he can share the ball.”
