Doc Rivers Responds To Paul George’s Criticism Of His Coaching: “Players Can Play Better”

Recently appearing on the ‘All The Smoke’ podcast, Paul George took his time covering a handful of topics about him and his career in general. When he gave his thoughts about his situation with the Clippers this past season, George didn’t hold back from voicing out how former Clippers coach Doc Rivers misused him, playing him like he was Ray Allen or JJ Redick instead of allowing him to get different touches.

Now given the chance to explain his side, Doc Rivers came to reporters and offered a response to George’s public criticism of him. The now-76ers coach doesn’t seem to have issues with how George directly pointed out his coaching style. As for Rivers, he believes everybody just has to take ownership of their disastrous meltdown.

“I enjoyed coaching him,” Rivers said in regards to George. “So, not a lot to say there. Ty Lue was sitting right next to me,” Rivers joked. “Listen, we lost the game, and I think everybody needs to take ownership. Obviously, we can always do better, and players can play better. As far as I’m concerned, I’ll leave it there.”
