Donovan Mitchell Had Valuable Advice For Walker Kessler After Noticing Huge Mistakes Playing Against Him

In 2021, Danny Ainge stepped down from his role with the Boston Celtics and later decided to join the Utah Jazz as the new CEO of the team. As someone who knows how to shake the trade market, it didn’t take too long for Ainge to blow the Jazz up.

The Jazz entered full rebuild mode this past offseason and moved on from the partnership of Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert.

Mitchell especially has thrived on is new team in Cleveland and is one of the best guards in the NBA this season – he even broke the franchise record in points already, when scoring 71 against the Chicago Bulls.

Then earlier this week, it was Mitchell’s first visit back in Utah. He was met with cheers and standing ovations and the Jazz played a tribute mixtape on the Jumbotron. During the game however, it was back to business for the All-Star, as he went for 46 points.

After the game, Mitchell revealed that scoring was easy at times for him, as Walker Kessler gave him the answers to the exam, due to calling out what kind of defensive play he was going to run beforehand.

That’s why Mitchell took the young center aside to have a conversation with him after the game.

Per KSL:

“He calls out what coverage is going to be in before he is in it … So I knew what he was going to do before — like he calls ‘drop’ which means he’s going to be back, so I’m like cool, I’m going to shoot a three … I said that as you play guys who shoot threes off the dribble, they’re going to go at you … Don’t tell them the answer to the exam.”
