Draymond Green Comes To Defense Of Russell Westbrook And The Los Angeles Lakers Amid Their Struggles

The Los Angeles Lakers haven’t quite lived up to their billing so far this season and have recently slipped to the 9th spot in the Western Conference with a 24-25 record.  As their struggle continues, much of the blame and criticism lands at the feet of 33-year old Lakers star point guard, Russell Westbrook.

Westbrook remains as talented as any point guard in the NBA, but many fans and basketball pundits believe that the former MVP often costs his team games, with his low percentage shots, turnovers and out-of-control plays. Thus, leaving them to hold an opinion that it’s in the team’s best interest to trade Westbrook somewhere else to salvage the season.

But not everyone is ready to give up on Westbrook like Golden State Warriors big man Draymond Green. The three-time Warriors All-Star had the chance to share his thoughts on Westbrook and the Lakers during his podcast, and according to him, he doesn’t like how Westbrook gets all the blame for everything going wrong with the Lakers.

“The reality is I’m not sure Russell Westbrook gets traded,” he said in response to recent trade rumors. “If I’m guessing just as an NBA fan, I don’t really foresee it happening nor do I think it really should happen. You haven’t really had the opportunity to see that team healthy and how they could grow together healthy. And I also don’t like how Russell Westbrook gets all of the blame for everything going wrong.”
