Draymond Green Not Too Pleased That He Was Left Off The All-Defensive First Team: “It’s A Slight”

Draymond Green did not make the All-Defensive First Team this year and slipped to All-Defensive Second Team, where he joined Bam Adebayo and Robert Williams III at the frontcourt position.

The All-Defensive First Team was instead headlined by Marcus Smart, Mikal Bridges, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jaren Jackson Jr., and Rudy Gobert.

As someone who takes pride on being a top defensive player, Green hasn’t exactly felt like there were five guys that had a better year than him on the defensive end.

Speaking in an interview ahead of the NBA Finals, Green has made it clear that he isn’t too pleased that he missed out the All-Defensive First Team, calling it a slight to his stellar defensive season.

Per ESPN:

“For me, it’s a slight,” Green said when asked if he took his second-team designation as a compliment or slight. “When I look at the first team, I am not sure I can pinpoint, definitely not five guys that had a better defensive season than me. And there are no [games played] requirements [for All-Defensive voting]. There is not some amount that you have to play in. If there was an amount that you had to play, then I would be an idiot sitting here and saying that.”

Green added: “What you had to see, I think it would be hard for someone to come and show me better [defense this season]. Especially not five guys [better]. It is more of a slight to me than anything.”
