The Boston Celtics are currently the 9th seed in the Eastern Conference with an 11-10 record. Their early regular season showing isn’t exactly rounding into what was initially expected of them, and this draws a lot of question, mainly to their dynamic duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.
It has always been a question whether this team could go further with Tatum and Brown leading them. But amid their struggles this season, many have observed that their pairing hasn’t been that capable of turning things around and putting everything all together.
From the perspective of a Western Conference scout, he believes that the team’s primary issue lies on Tatum and Brown’s inability to make everyone around them better.
Per ESPN:
“Jaylen and Jayson aren’t making anyone better,” a Western Conference scout said. “I put that on them.”
An anonymous Eastern Conference executive, on the other hand, believes that the duo has a problem beyond their play-style, suggesting that the two players aren’t fond of seeing each other’s respective success on the basketball court.
“They’ve looked like [players that] legitimately don’t enjoy each other’s success, and it’s been like that for years,” an Eastern Conference executive said. “The fact it’s still rearing its head is not surprising in that regard.”
