Emotional Russell Westbrook Dedicates Historic Game To Nipsey Hussle

This past Sunday, Grammy-nominated rapper Nipsey Hussle was fatally shot multiple times in the parking lot of his store, Marathon Clothing, in South Los Angeles. He was only 33 years old.

He was very close with many NBA players, including James Harden, Stephen Curry and Russell Westbrook, and had his life and his art honored and celebrated by many of them over these past few days.

During last night’s game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Oklahoma City Thunder, Russell Westbrook became only the second player in history to record a 20-20-20 game.

Only Wilt Chamberlain (22 points, 25 rebounds, 21 assists in 1968) had accomplished this prior to Westbrook who finished with 20 points, 20 rebounds and 21 assists.

After the game, Westbrook dedicated this special game to his late friend Nipsey Hussle.

“That wasn’t for me. That was for my bro. That’s for Nipsey. 20 plus 20 plus 20. The know what that means…”

“Somebody I looked up to, somebody that paved the way for a guy like myself growing up in the inner city. To have those conversations with him. I’m just truly saddened by the situation, just continue to pray for his family.”
