Enes Kanter Reveals NBA Threatened Him With Ban For Wearing ‘Free Tibet’ And Anti China Messages On Sneakers 

Boston Celtics center Enes Kanter continuously talked about the wrong doings of China, while urging others to follow along, in the past month.

Expectedly, and similar to the Houston Rockets situation a while back, this has led to China blocking all Boston Celtics games for now.

But that didn’t stop Kanter, on the contrary, he even intensified his statements. Kanter continued to protest against Chinese President Xi Jinping, and even wore shoes with messages directed at the Chinese president and China in general.

Kanter now revealed that the NBA tried to force him to stop wearing these types of messages on his shoes. Apparently, NBA officials approached him, urging him to take them off and suggesting he could be “banned” for wearing them. Kanter tho, refused to take them off and stated NBA officials apologized to him while explaining that he wasn’t breaking any rules.

“NBA made me do this. Because every time when one of the NBA teams or the commissioner comes out to speak, they say we are encouraging players to talk about whatever they want to talk about. We are giving freedom to our players to talk about all the injustices happening around the world, all the human rights abuses around the world. So, they gave me this right.”
