FC Barcelona Didn’t Let Their PG Thomas Heurtel Board The Team Plane, Purposely Leaving Him Stranded At Istanbul Airpot Following EuroLeague Game

This is one of the weirdest and craziest stories you’ll read about today.

French professional basketball player, Thomas Heurtel, who plays for Spanish team FC Barcelona, was purposely left at the airport in Istanbul, following their EuroLeague game against Turkish side, Anadolu Efes.

Team officials and the front office of FC Barcelona did not permit Heurtel to board the plane and fly back home to Spain with his teammates.

Heurtel’s stint in Barcelona seems to be coming to and end as he didn’t resign with the team, which led to the point guard talking to other teams to sort out his professional future. Among these teams is Fenerbahce Istanbul, who was being considered a potential destination.

But what Barcelona didn’t know is that Heurtel apparently didn’t favor Fenerbahce, but Barca’s biggest rival and fellow Spanish team, Real Madrid. More so, Heurtel had reportedly secretly agreed to sign with Real Madrid while Barcelona thought that the player was leaving  towards Turkey.

That’s why Barcelona decided to leave their player stranded in Istanbul, in hopes that he re-ignites negotiations with Fenerbahce and not sign with Madrid. Also because an almost done deal including fellow Frenchman Leo Westermann, from Fenerbahce to Barcelona, now appears to be in the air, since both players have the same agent and Fenerbahce is also thinking to stop the transfer.

Other European players reacted accordingly in anger and disbelief:
