Gordon Hayward’s Signature Sneakers Are Amazingly Honoring Kobe Bryant

This past offseason, Gordon Hayward signed a four-year, $120 million deal with the Charlotte Hornets. By doing so, he became only the third player in NBA history to sign two different contracts worth $30+ million a year, next to LeBron James and Kevin Durant.

Ever since his gruesome leg injury during his Celtics debut in 2017, Hayward has had a troubling injury history, and only was able to play an average of 41.6 games per season for the Celtics over the last three years.

His injury history and the fact that he’s already 30 years old, had the NBA world stunned about the value of his contract, and many people reacted by ripping Michael Jordan for being a bad franchise owner.

It’s always great to see things turn out differently than expected by the vast majority.

Hayward is coming off back-to-back 30-plus-point games for the first time since 2017 and continues to thrive as the top dog in Charlotte.

He not only is having career-highs in points (23.2) to go with 5.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.2 steals, he also is a current member of the 50/40/90 club.

If he continues to play like this, he will definitely be named an All-Star. Hayward sticking it to his doubters is amazing, and more than deserved given what a great guy he is.

The former Celtic has a shoe deal with Anta, that includes a signature sneaker line, the GHs. This season though, he has been playing in a special snakeskin GH2 honoring Kobe Bryant. There also is a 24 on the heel & “Remember” across the midfoot.

The laces include the last two sentences from Kobe’s Instagram post encouraging Hayward after his gruesome injury in 2017.

Hayward then faced Kobe in his Bryant’s last NBA game (60 points!!!!) and even deliberately wanted a lane violation in case Kobe missed his second free throw so that he could leave the league on a made shot.

What a guy!
