Isaiah Thomas Says That He Deserves A Max Contract

Boston point guard Isaiah Thomas had himself a career year last season. He led the Boston Celtics to the number one seed in the Eastern Conference, averaging 28.9 points and 5.9 assists per game.

Thomas has been a vocal leader on and off the court. Even though he stands at only 5’9, he isn’t afraid to take on challenges. He also hasn’t been afraid to tell his team what exactly he wants, and he wants a max contract next summer.

During a basketball clinic, Thomas was asked by the Boston Herald about his next contract, and how confident he was that he will be getting that max:

“Very confident. I deserve it. I put the work in, and you can put me down against any guard in the NBA. … My numbers are up there with the best players in the world, and my team is winning. So, I mean, you have to reward that.”

If Thomas continues to play like he has this past season, he will absolutely sign a max contract next year. My gut tells me that if the Boston Cetlics don’t offer him his well-deserved max, he’ll sign it somewhere else.
