Ja Morant Suggests Klay Thompson’s Defense Didn’t Bother Him During His Last Play In Game 1

Ja Morant had an impressive showing in Game 1 of the second-round playoff series between the Memphis Grizzlies and the Golden State Warriors. Facing a more experienced team, Morant showed confidence and dropped 34 points, 9 rebounds and 10 assists.

His stellar performance however didn’t end in a good ending as the Grizzlies lost the game to a score of 117-116. Additionally, the Grizzlies had a prime opportunity to take the lead and win the game when Morant drove to the basket in the final seconds of the game while trailing by 1 point. Unfortunately, the explosive point guard ended up missing the shot.

Morant was closely defended by Klay Thompson during his final shot attempt. While it was observed that Thompson’s defense factored into Morant’s missed shot, the 22-year old superstar suggested that Thompson’s defense didn’t even bother him.

Per SFGATE:

Ja Morant: “I just missed the layup.”

Reporter: “Ja, I know you say you just missed the layup but was there anything that — did Klay jump out at the last second and force you out a little bit wider?”

Ja Morant: “Nah.”
