James Worthy Raves About Lakers’ Loss, Thinks LeBron Should Take Some Time Off

The Los Angeles Lakers picked up their third straight loss of the season and are now 1-4 in their last five games after blowing a 17-point lead against the Washington Wizards, who pulled off a 127-124 overtime victory on Monday night.

LeBron James, who played 43 minutes, filled up the stat-sheet with 31 points, 9 rebounds and 13 assists, but the lauded MVP frontrunner just couldn’t carry the shorthanded Lakers team past the Wizards, missing a potential game-winning free throw in regulation, as well as a game-tying three-pointer in overtime.

After the game, Los Angeles Lakers legend James Worthy expressed disappointment with how the Lakers approached the game in the second half. Worthy also advised that the Lakers should address LeBron’s minutes and learn to play without him at some point.

“The Lakers have a 17-point lead, they took their foot off the gas, they made some really stupid silly turnovers, stopped executing, stopped moving. They didn’t deserve it.”

“When you have a 17-point lead, you have to come with a different mentality, they stopped moving the ball. Look, I don’t mind when the ball is in LeBron’s hands when he’s hot. But when he has it, there’s not a lot of ball movement going on down the stretch. That’s why it’s difficult getting shots, there’s no movement, the defense was set right on them.”

“They gotta start taking a look at that [LeBron’s minutes]. Even though they need wins, they gotta play without him [LeBron] some time, and let them get back to the motion like they did in the first half.”
