There are a number of MVP-caliber players, but there could only be one best player in the NBA. There’s a great parity at the top of the hierarchy, so one will most likely get different answers depending on how people weigh these players against each other.

LeBron James was previously considered as the best player in the NBA, but his injuries, age and team success over the past three seasons have certainly affected his argument. On the other hand, players such as Giannis Antetokounmpo, Nikola Jokic, Joel Embiid, Jayson Tatum and Luka Doncic have raised their status in recent years.

Appearing in an interview with ESPN’s Malika Andrews, Tatum was now asked who he believes is the current best player in the league. Though Tatum has been dominant in his own right, the 24-year old Celtics forward admits that the title belongs to The Greek Freak. Cleveland Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell also agreed on Tatum’s choice.

“How he impacts both sides, scoring, rebounding, how hard he plays,” Tatum said. “We all have off nights but I feel like when he has an off night it’s still 25 [points] and 15 [rebounds] instead of 40 and 20. And he’s won, he’s won a championship.”
