Jeff Van Gundy Doesn’t Think Anthony Davis Is A Lock For Hall Of Fame: “He’s Just Been Unavailable So Often”

In his career, Anthony Davis has already amassed eight All-Star appearances, four All-NBA First Team selections, four NBA All-Defensive Team selections, and a championship ring with the Los Angeles Lakers.

His numbers are also worth noting. Davis is a dominant two-way player who has averaged 24.0 points, 10.3 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game on 51.8% shooting from the field. He also led the league in blocks per game thrice and total blocks twice.

One could surely tell Davis will eventually find himself part of the NBA Hall of Fame once it’s all said and done. After all, the Lakers superstar is officially recognized as one of the NBA’s 75 greatest players in history while his career being far from settled.

While Davis looks like a certified Hall of Famer, former head coach and current ESPN commentator Jeff Van Gundy doesn’t think Davis is a lock for Hall of Fame due to his injuries.

“Are you sure right now if he [Anthony Davis] ended today, he’d be a Hall of Famer?” Mark Jackson asked.

“I’m not sure because of the injuries,” Van Gundy responded. “He’s just been unavailable so often. I think it’s hard to say that.”
