Joel Embiid Says the 76ers “Have A Chance” of Reaching the Playoffs

After defeating Brooklyn 105-95 on Sunday afternoon, the Philadelphia 76ers are slowly moving up the Eastern Conference standings. Just 7.5 games back from the No. 8, the 76ers are 3-1 over their last four games and are “starting to learn how to win games,” according to rookie center Joel Embiid.

Though the Philadelphia 76ers—led by projected 2016-17 Rookie of the Year winner Joel Embiid—have been playing well as of late, the team is still 10-25 on the season. With just ten wins over their first thirty five games, the Sixers climbing back into playoff contention is improbable.

“Trust the Process” is a term used by 76ers fans who believe in Joel Embiid as the future of the franchise. His 19.3 points, 7.4 rebounds, 2.4 blocks, and 2.0 assists as a rookie make it inevitable that it is true.

“I think we have a chance [of making the playoffs this season]. We’ve been hot lately,” Embiid said, according to The Associated Press. “We’ve won three out of four lately, so I look at it, and I think we have a chance, and we’re really figuring things out. We’re starting to learn how to win games.”

With their win today over Brooklyn, the 76ers have matched the amount of wins (10) they had all of last season. Their horrid 10-72 record in 2015-16 will most definitely not be back again anytime soon. Joel “The Process” Embiid would never allow his team to fall that low in the standings with him on the floor. Embiid currently has six straight games of scoring 20-or-more points in under 30 minutes of play, making him the first player to accomplish that feat since minutes started being recorded in 1951-52.

It may not be this year, but it’ll be soon. The Philadelphia 76ers have the postseason in site. With Joel Embiid improving each night and the team doing their best to build around him, expect Philadelphia to sneak into the playoffs within two years.
