John Stockton Echoes His Support For Kyrie Irving Over Anti-Vaccine Stance: “I’m Proud Of Him”

Kyrie Irving is arguably the most popular anti-vax proponent among NBA players. As a consequence of his refusal to take the COVID-19 vaccine, the 29-year old point guard is yet to play a single game for the Brooklyn Nets this season.

Irving has been taking plenty of heat from the media and basketball pundits across the NBA world since his decision went public. Amid the many criticism however, Irving has gained support from a high-profile NBA all-time great in John Stockton.

The former Utah Jazz superstar has apparently taken an anti-vax stance as well. So when commenting on Irving’s decision, Stockton made sure to stick up for the Nets point guard, expressing that he’s proud of him for taking the risk and doing what he feels is right.

Per New York Daily News

“You have a lot of supporters Kyrie,” Stockton said. “Not all them of can get to you, and you can’t get to all of them, but there’s every bit a majority out there that’s sitting there pulling for you. They’re just not quite as bold as he is. I’m proud of him as an individual to take that kind of individual risk and be that bold for what you feel is right.”

“There’s not a chance I would risk any of that to play,” Stockton said. “My hope would be other guys would join in. And all of us lock arms. And none of us play.”
