The injury to LeBron James is such a massive blow to the already-struggling Los Angeles Lakers team. Currently sitting at 11th place in the Western Conference with a record of 30-34, it’s a well-known fact that the Lakers have to finish the season strong to give themselves a chance to make the NBA playoffs.

The Lakers have shown a lot of promise since trading Russell Westbrook and bringing in a couple of new key players. However, it remains to be seen whether the Lakers can keep their season alive without LeBron for about two to three weeks.

Now, a huge responsibility has been placed on the shoulders of Anthony Davis. The 29-year old Lakers superstar is undeniably one of the best big men in the NBA right now and is capable of showing MVP-caliber play when he’s healthy.

This is the perfect opportunity for Davis to step up and prove that he can carry the team even with the absence of his co-star. With this in mind, Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett thinks the Lakers may move on from Anthony Davis this summer if he doesn’t meet the team’s expectations this season.

“Bron goes down with his foot… This is the time where the Lakers are sitting back to see the Anthony Davis project.” said Garnett. “This is featuring Anthony Davis to see what he can do in these two weeks to maneuver the Lakers. If this doesn’t really move anything, I think they come off the Anthony Davis project and move him this summer.”
