Kevin Garnett Wants To Bring The Sonics Back To Seattle As Owner

When Kevin Garnett came back to finish his career with the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2015, he was about to join the team’s ownership group – something the late, great Flip Saunders had arranged with Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor.

But after Saunders passed away later that year, Taylor did not honor the plans he had with Saunders and Garnett, leaving the about to be Hall of Famer and Taylor in discordance.

This does not mean that Kevin Garnett has lost his interest in being a team owner. KG now revealed that he would love to buy, and bring back the Seattle Supersonics. Per the Associate Press:

“If I have a dream, I would say that I would love to be able to go and buy the Seattle Supersonics and reactivate the Pacific Northwest. Seattle was huge to our league. I would love to be able to do that. That’s what’s up. If there’s one thing I could do tomorrow, it would be that.”

In this quest, Garnett could team up with his former Boston teammate Ray Allen. Allen played in Seattle for the SuperSonics from 2003 to 2007 and still has a lot of positive feelings towards the city. Three years ago, Ray published an Instagram post, saying that everybody needs to rally and bring the NBA back to Seattle.

“Seattle has grown so much since I was last here. What a great city! I had some great memories not too far away from the #spaceneedle. I still can’t believe that there is no basketball in Seattle!! This city is too great not to have a hoops squad. Come on everybody we need to rally and bring the NBA back to Seattle. let’s make this happen people!!! The NBA misses traveling to Seattle, I know I certainly do!!!!! #bringbackoursonics #keyarena #seattlecenter”
