Kobe Bryant’s New Book ‘Geese Are Never Swans’ Is Exploring Mental Health in Sports

Yesterday, Vanessa Bryant announced the release of  ‘Geese Are Never Swans, the last book Kobe Bryant had been working on before his tragic death on January 26.

The novel for young adults that was created by Kobe and written by psychologist Eva Clark, explores the healing power of sports.

Clark now shared how it was to team up with Bryant and revealed that Bryant was very interested in the topic of mental health in sports.

Per PEOPLE:

“Kobe was very interested in showing this athlete that had this extreme drive stemming from trauma that’s [unfortunately] celebrated by people as successful,” Clark says. “But they’re not in touch with their trauma, which is why they’re so angry.”

She continues: “Kobe really wanted to show the healing: how to accept help, connect with other people, take care of yourself and still have drive and still be a great athlete. When you’re not fighting, you’re able to see more, go further.”
