Kyle Kuzma Thinks That His Hometown Has Been Abandoned By The Government

After an amazing rookie campaign, Kuzma continues to impress. This time off the court, and with an important message. The Flint, Michigan native is one of several NBA players (Rasheed Wallace, Stephen Jackson) who are helping to save the city.

After Flint changed its water source from treated Detroit Water and Sewerage Department water to the Flint River in April 2014, its drinking water had a series of problems that culminated with lead contamination, creating a serious public health danger. The corrosive Flint River water caused lead from aging pipes to leach into the water supply, causing extremely elevated levels of the heavy metal.

2014!!!!!!!!!!!!! 4 Years later, and Flint still has no drinking water. One of the reasons Kuzma thinks that Flint has been abandoned by the government. Via ESPN:

“It is just kind of sad for me, how America has let a city of its own deplete and kind of die,” Kuzma said. “We help third-world countries out, but we have a city that doesn’t have [clean] water. It doesn’t make sense. That is definitely one of the frustrating things. But that is why I am not a politician.”
