Kyle Lowry Receives Huge Ovation & Epic Tribute Video In His Return To Toronto

After Kyle Lowry’s last game in a Toronto Raptors uniform last year, the post-game interviews were dedicated on getting a clearer picture on the trade rumors. Raptors head coach Nick Nurse had this to say when asked about his then-starting point guard:

“He’ll go down as maybe the greatest Raptor ever, I think.”

And Nurse does have a point.

After the Toronto Raptors traded for Lowry in the summer of 2012, he has become second in games played, second in minutes, fourth in field goals, first in 3-pt field goals, first in assists, first in steals, second in points and first in triple doubles in Toronto Raptors franchise history.  More importantly, he is the all-time Raptors leader in win-shares and playoff wins, aiding the Raptors in their 2019 NBA Championship run.

Ever since Lowry joined the Raptors, Toronto was more than 2,500 points better with him on the court. When Lowry was off the court, his team only outscored their opponents by 40. They were +2,561 points when he was playing, and +40 when he was on the bench. That stat alone shows his impact and importance to the Raptors franchise.

The trade rumors mentioned at the beginning ended up becoming facts and Kyle Lowry made his way to South Beach. Last night, when the Heat played in Toronto, the beloved former Raptors point guard made his return to the 6ix and was welcomed with a very emotional pre-game video tribute and a long standing ovation from Raptors fans.

In the game, Lowry helped his new team beat the Raptors 114-109, with 16 points and 10 assists.
