Lakers ‘Fans’ Start Petition Trying To Prevent ‘Scapegoat’ Danny Green From Receiving Possible Championship Ring

Lakers wingman Danny Green has been one of the players who received the most hate and jokes from fans and social media ever since the NBA season continued. This obviously is largely due to the fact that Green has been shooting horribly ever since entering the bubble and hasn’t been able to turn things around… or at least that’s what fans think.

If we take a closer look at his stats, you can see that Green actually is shooting the ball more effectively in these playoffs than in last year’s when he was a member of the Toronto Raptors’ championship team.

2019 Playoffs Danny Green: 34.2% FG, 32.8% 3PM, 6.9 PPG

2020 Playoffs Danny Green: 34.4% FG, 33.3% 3PM, 7.8 PPG

But that just shows you how a different narrative can be spun with impressively similar statistics. One time he’s the hero, the other he’s the scapegoat. But things got worse for Green after he missed an open three pointer with about 8 seconds left in Game 5, that could have crowned the Lakers as NBA champions for the 17th time in franchise history.

Instead of supporting their player, hoping for a better outcome in Game 6, Lakers fans, in true Lakers fans fashion chose the other option and started attacking Green. Fans even created a petition to prevent him from getting a ring if the team wins the title. The petition has been signed by over 15,000 people already.

Danny Green has been terrible in the entire 2020 playoffs for the Lakers. He doesn’t deserve a ring if the Lakers win the championship and Jeanie Buss should make sure he doesn’t get one.
