Lakers Had Russell Westbrook Trade Offer On The Table But Decided To Decline

The Los Angeles Lakers haven’t quite lived up to their billing so far this season and have recently slipped to the 9th spot in the Western Conference with a 26-30 record.  As their struggle continues, much of the blame and criticism lands at the feet of 33-year old Lakers star point guard, Russell Westbrook.

Westbrook remains as talented as any point guard in the NBA, but many fans and basketball pundits believe that the former MVP often costs his team games, with his low percentage shots, turnovers and out-of-control plays.

According to NBA Insider Chris Haynes, there even was a Westbrook deal on the Lakers’ table, but they ended up deciding to not pull the trigger on it. According to Haynes, the Houston Rockets offered point guard John Wall for Russell Westbrook, but wanted an additional first-round pick.

“Sources informed me that the [Houston] Rockets did reach out to the Lakers to offer John Wall for Russell Westbrook, but they wanted the Lakers to include a first-round pick,” Haynes said tonight. “The Lakers declined that.”
