Lakers Still Planning To Acquire Both LeBron James And Paul George This Summer

LeBron James is expected to decline his player option ($35.6 million) and become an unrestricted free agent this offseason. The possibility of resigning with the Cavs is more than given, but LeBron will most likely also meet with other teams. The Los Angeles Lakers have been rumored as a potential candidate to sign LeBron for quite a while now. The Lakers are a young and promising team that’s lacking a real leader, a role LeBron would fill. James also has a home in Los Angeles, where he and his family spend most of their time during NBA offseasons.

In Los Angeles, LeBron could possibly team up with another All Star in Paul George. Even though PG seems happy in Oklahoma, his plan has always been to go home in 2018 and play for the Los Angeles Lakers. Adrian Wojnarowski believes the Lakers are still trying to acquire both stars summer:

“The Lakers plan hasn’t changed. They want to get both of them. They want to be a championship contender and that’s going to take a lot of good fortune in free agency to be able to get both those guys. Either of those players certainly transforms your team.”
