Lamar Odom Thinks The Los Angeles Lakers Could Go Back Into Contention By Trading LeBron James

LeBron James recently signed a lucrative contract extension with the Los Angeles Lakers that runs through the 2024-25 NBA season with a player option in its last year. Per LeBron’s contract, the Lakers superstar is also ineligible to be traded throughout this season.

While LeBron and the Lakers seem committed in the long run, former Lakers power forward Lamar Odom thinks that the Lakers could return themselves back into contention by trading the 37-year old Lakers superstar.

The Lakers are currently the second-worst team in the Western Conference with a record of 3-10. The Lakers have an ample of time to turn their season around, but right now, the LeBron-led team isn’t looking like a formidable team capable of winning a championship.

Many have thought about the idea of trading LeBron considering his age and value, and Odom is not any different.

“If you trade LeBron you’re doing more than rebuilding. If you did, you’re probably going to put yourself right back into contention… You can get half a team [for LeBron], you’re picking two or three players that been playing together already.”
