LeBron James Is The First Active NBA Player Ever To Become A Billionaire 

LeBron James hasn’t only been one of the best players in the NBA for a long time, but also the league’s top earning athlete in seven straight years.

James turned 36-years old last December, yet he’s still able to dominate today’s young bucks and rising stars. At this point, it’s just irresistible to acknowledge the longevity and consistency that LeBron is showing.

4 Championship rings, 4 Finals MVP awards, 4 regular season MVP awards, 2 All-Star Game MVP awards, 2 Olympic gold medals, 17 All-Star Game nominations, 17 All NBA Teams, 5 All Defensive First Teams, and the Rookie of the Year Award.

But James is still hungry for more and is adding new records to his resume on the regular, and he’s just added another milestone – definitely one of the most historic ones.

James’ career earnings have now reached the $1 billion ($700 million off the court) mark, leading to LeBron becoming the first basketball player to reach this milestone during his active career. He joins a handful of greats from other sports, who’ve managed to achieve the same feat in Tiger Woods, Floyd Mayweather, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Next up among current NBA players are Kevin Durant with $580 million, and Stephen Curry with $430 million. But the rising NBA salaries will likely create some new NBA billionaires in the future. Luka Doncic, for example, is expected to make $700+ million in salary alone if he remains healthy and plays until he is 36 years of age.
