LeBron James Preferred To Sign With The Knicks In 2018, But His Wife Wanted To Live In Los Angeles

We all know the story of LeBron James being very close to signing with the New York Knicks in 2010, before he decided to join Dwyane Wade in South Beach.

The Knicks apparently were James’ favored destination, and he would have signed with them, hadn’t the meeting been such a disaster.

But apparently, James came close to be a Knicks a second time – shortly before he signed with the Los Angeles Lakers. In fact, LeBron James reportedly preferred to go to New York and was swayed out of the decision by his wife, Savannah.

Vanity Fair’s Lisa Robinson joined Brian Windhorst and Ramona Shelburne on the Brian Windhorst & The Hoop Collective podcast and revealed the story of how LeBron signed with the Lakers because of his wife.

“We heard that LeBron wanted to come to New York. And I have really good sources about this, that he was thinking about coming to New York but that his wife wanted to be in Los Angeles, wanted the kids to go to school in Los Angeles, and that just kiboshed the whole thing.”
