LeBron James Reveals Why He Chose The Los Angeles Lakers

This year’s offseason started with a bang, as the LeBron era in Cleveland has come to an end after James signed a four-year, $154 million contract with the Los Angeles Lakers.

This was only the beginning of yet another crazy NBA summer.

James enjoyed himself after letting the world know he’ll be a Laker and went to the Caribbean and Europe, before touring with his family, watching his oldest son, LeBron Jr., play basketball games.

But aside from watching a Lakers’ Summer League game, James hasn’t really been seen with the team, nor has he talked about his decision. Until now!

In an interview with ESPN’s Rachel Nichols, James now explained that he did indeed think about joining the Sixers or Rockets, before revealing why he eventually signed with the Lakers.

“I definitely thought long and hard about the possibilities of lining up alongside Ben and Embiid, or lining up alongside Harden and Chris. I felt like at this point in my career, the ultimate for me, just like when I went to Miami, everyone kinda looks at me joining a superteam, but I think Miami was 35-47 the year before I joined that team. You can look at the Lakers record. So I like the challenge of being able to help a team get to some places that they haven’t been to in quite a while.”
