Lonzo Ball Explains Why He Walked Away From The Altercation Last Night

Last night, the Los Angeles Lakers lost their game against the Phoenix Suns.

There was a scuffle in the fourth quarter between Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Tyler Ulis. No one would have talked about the incident today, or in the next few days, hadn’t Lonzo Ball provided a strange moment.

When there are scuffles or similar altercations in the NBA, players normally rush to join in and defend their teammate(s). Last night, Lonzo Ball was the player closest to the scuffle, but ended up being the only player not interested in the altercation.

As KCP and Ulis started to push each other, Ball casually walked past them, not interested to help his teammate.

After the game, Ball was asked about the situation by Eric Pincus of Basketball Insiders, and said:

“It’s the NBA. People ain’t gonna really fight, so I ain’t trying to get no tech.”

While this is a reasonable explanation, it still was somewhat weird to watch Ball just walk away. It almost looked like he wasn’t part of the team.
