Lou Williams Turned Being Robbed At Gun Point Into A Christmas Dinner With The Robber

Still my favorite Christmas story ever – Lou Williams turned being robbed into buying the robber some McDonald’s.

Back when Lou Williams was playing for the Philadelphia 76ers, he once was stopped in his car by a man wielding a gun at his face. Williams explained the situation to the Daily News:

“A guy tried to rob me but decided not to because of whatever I do in the community. He’s a Lou Williams fan, so he didn’t rob me. There’s crime everywhere. I was debating whether to pull off to help the guy. The gun was already out. He did all the talking, and we came up with a solution before I could really say much. I treated him to McDonald’s.”

This was happening on Christmas Eve of 2011, and could be the most modern Christmas Story. Having so much street cred to not get robbed, and then buying the guy who was trying to rob you a Christmas dinner?! We’ll never be as cool as Lou Williams.

He should pursue a career in hostage negotiation after retiring from basketball.
