After the Chicago Bulls failed to secure a spot in the NBA playoffs, the team now enters the offseason with a lot of queries to address. One of which is whether or not DeMar DeRozan should stay with the team next season.

DeRozan played an inarguable role in making the Bulls relevant since he was traded to the team in the summer of 2021. Over his two seasons with the team, the six-time All-Star averaged 26.2 points, 4.9 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game on 50.4% shooting from the field.

While there’s no little doubt that DeRozan remains a highly productive player for the Bulls, there’s plenty of expectations that the Bulls may be keen on hitting the reset button and get enough assets by trading the 33-year old star.

If DeRozan somehow becomes available, the Memphis Grizzlies may be a team to watch. Right now, there’s no immediate plans for the Grizzlies as they’re still playing in the NBA playoffs. But Will Gottlieb of CHGO Sports noted that the Grizzlies are a team that could benefit from having a veteran scorer like DeRozan.

Per CHGO Sports:

“The Grizzlies are definitely a team that might be able to use a stabilizing veteran force who can be relied on to score in the half court — something the Grizzlies struggle to do,” Gottlieb wrote. “Getting Tyus Jones, one of the Grizzlies young players and/or a pick could be an enticing package to keep the Bulls afloat now while also replenishing their asset base.”
