Metta World Peace Says Wilt Chamberlain Is The Greatest Basketball Player Ever

The greatest of all-time debate has remotely died down since Netflix and ESPN’s 10-part documentary ‘The Last Dance’ concluded, but several opinions and discussions about the GOAT still continue to pop up across different mediums.

Recently, former Los Angeles Lakers forward Metta World Peace gave an uncommon candidate for the title. While Michael Jordan and LeBron James receive the most recognition, World Peace went to Twitter and named Wilt Chamberlain as the greatest basketball player ever.

Chamberlain’s case isn’t bad at all. Despite only a small fraction of his games are on tape, Chamberlain’s outrageous records and feats speak for itself. Many fans would point out his era and the competition that he played against, but Wilt was still in a different stratosphere relative to his competition.

To sum it up, Chamberlain has had a career average of 30.1 points and 22.9 rebounds per game throughout his 14-year career, yet, outside of him, nobody in NBA history has even averaged 30 points and 20 rebounds per game in a single season. Let that sink in.

World Peace didn’t further elaborate his reasoning for his pick, but it’s completely acceptable to give someone not named Jordan and LeBron the ‘GOAT’ mantra. After all, it boils down to each of one’s preferences.
