Milwaukee’s Prodigal Son Has Returned

In the 2009 NBA Draft, the Milwaukee Bucks selected Brandon Jennings with their 10th pick. Jennings had a very promising start to his NBA career, playing all 82 games of his rookie campaign, averaging 15.5 points, 3.4 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 1.3 steals (including a 55 point game) which led him to All Rookie First Team honors.

After three more promising seasons in Milwaukee (including averaging a career best 19.1 points in 2012), Jennings took his talents to Detroit. That’s when his career took a wrong turn and started going downhill. Two and a half years in Detroit, followed by short stints in Orlando, New York and Washington with almost zero success, caused Jennings to give up his NBA dream and leave the country to play in China. Until now!

On February 18, Jennings was acquired by the Wisconsin Herd, the Milwaukee Bucks’ G-League team. In the seven games he then played for the Herd, Jennings impressed with 21.4 points, 7.6 assists, 4.7 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game, which led to the Milwaukee Bucks now bringing Brandon back to the NBA on a ten-day contract.

Jennings is ecstatic to play for the Bucks again and will be active for Monday’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies. Jennigs told Marc J. Spears of ESPN:

“Blessed and grateful for a second chance coming from a franchise where I started,”
