Multiple League Sources Expect Brooklyn To Explore Bringing In Gregg Popovich As New Head Coach
Brooklyn Nets fans can be looking forward to the 2020-21 season in anticipation.
A healthy Kevin Durant, a healthy Kyrie Irving, a third star in Caris LeVert and a more than decent supporting cast. If things click between the two superstars, and if they’re able to remain healthy, the Nets could become a contender, not only in the East, but the entire NBA.
The only thing missing is a coach to put all of the assets together – in comes San Antonio Spurs legend Gregg Popovich.
A few weeks ago in the ‘Let’s Get Technical’ podcast starring former NBA stars Rasheed Wallace and Bonzi Wells, it was revealed that there’s a story going around that the Brooklyn Nets are looking to make a Godfather offer to Gregg Popovich.
“There’s a story going around that the owner of the Brooklyn Nets is looking to make a godfather offer to Gregg Popovich. And when I say ‘Godfather’, it’s something he can’t refuse.”

This rumor now got some more fuel after Popovich missed the playoffs for the first time since his first season as head coach of the San Antonio Spurs in 1996.
Multiple league sources expect Brooklyn to explore bringing in Gregg Popovich, according to a report by Los Angeles Times’ Dan Woike.
“The lovable underdog days of the Nets are numbered, with league sources, including those familiar with the Nets and the Spurs, expecting Brooklyn to explore bringing the NBA’s biggest coaching name — Gregg Popovich — to the Nets’ sidelines.”
While it indeed seems highly unlikely for Gregg Popovich to jump ships for the first time at this stage of his career, even if the Nets were to prepare a godfather offer, you do miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.
