NBA Insider Says Trae Young Might Leave The Atlanta Hawks Next Season, Links Him To The Los Angeles Lakers

Trae Young is one of the best point guards in the NBA and is one that put the Atlanta Hawks back on the map. But with the Hawks still embroiled in a middling campaign, the 24-year old point guard hasn’t been safe from rumors going around the NBA.

It isn’t all that surprising given that Young has also found himself mired in controversy this season due to his tensions with Hawks head coach Nate McMillan and deteriorated relationship with former Hawks president Travis Schlenk.

Young is under contract until the 2026-27 NBA season and hasn’t publicly voiced any dissatisfaction about his team yet. But according to one NBA source, the two-time All-Star may consider leaving the Hawks after the season, with the Los Angeles Lakers mentioned as a team to keep an eye on.

Per Bleacher Report:

“I think Trae will want out after the season,” one NBA source said. “The Hawks probably try to get out of John Collins and others by the deadline, but Trae’s a long shot. Maybe the [Lakers] in July with his ties to Klutch [Sports].”
