NBA Screwed Davis Bertans Out Of 3-Point Contest With Awful Excuse

San Antonio Spurs sharpshooter Davis Bertans leads the NBA in three point percentage this season. An impressive 48.6% of his shots from behind the line find their target.

With shooting like this, an invitation to the All-Star weekend’s three point shooting contest should be inevitable, shouldn’t it? On the contrary! According to various reports, Davis Bertans wanted to take part in the contest, but the NBA snubbed him. On top of that they had the worst excuse. Bertans apparently hasn’t shot enough threes to be invited.

Well, let’s have a closer look. This season, the Latvian has taken 179 three point shots. Not too many, compared to players like Stephen Curry, James Harden or Damian Lillard, but way more than players who already have been confirmed to take part in the three point contest, making the NBA’s reasoning for not inviting Bertans void. Dirk Nowitzki has taken 47 threes this year, and Seth Curry has shot 131.

While I understand and approve both participants, with Dirk likely being in his last season of his unreal career, and Seth competing against his older brother, the NBA should have explained it the way it is, and not give a reason that doesn’t make sense.

Davis, sorry mate, you just aren’t popular enough…
