Nikola Jokic Gets Honest About Possibly Winning A Third MVP Award: “I Can’t Anymore”

Nikola Jokic has impressed and has vaulted himself into the MVP race this season, coming in at 25.5 points, 10.9 rebounds and 9.5 assists per game on 61.6% shooting from the field as he leads the Nuggets to the best record in the Western Conference with 23 wins and 12 losses.

The 27-year old Nuggets superstar is the back-to-back reigning MVP and was only the 13th player in NBA history to become a back-to-back MVP winner. Perhaps, Jokic could write another history by winning three MVPs in a row as he continues to string together a run of MVP-type performances.

A lot of basketball pundits have gauged the possibility of Jokic winning his third MVP award this season. While his three-peat is still very much in play, Jokic doesn’t see it for himself when asked about becoming a three-time MVP winner in a recent interview.

As translated and transcribed by Reddit user u/__mihajlo_m:

Jokic: “It’s fine. I can’t anymore. Now when they put me in conversation…”

Reporter: “Larry Bird won it 3 times in a row.”

Jokić: “Let it stay like that. Let him enjoy. I can’t anymore.”
