Pat Riley Explains Why He Couldn’t Let Go Of Tyler Herro And Duncan Robinson

The Miami Heat enjoyed a ton of success last season when they surprisingly made their way into the NBA Finals. Two of the many heroes of the NBA playoffs for the Heat were Duncan Robinson and Tyler Herro.

Ever since the two players emerged as significant pieces to Miami’s success, Herro and Robinson found their names in a number of trade rumors since the start of the offseason until the recent trade deadline. However, no trade scenario involving the two players ever fell through.

In addition to this, the Heat were even unwilling to package Herro, who’s been averaging 15.5 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game on 41.7% shooting this season, for former Houston Rockets superstar James Harden, and recently, for Toronto Raptors veteran point guard Kyle Lowry.

Following all these happenings, some fans have questioned Miami Heat president Pat Riley’s thought process regarding keeping Herro and Robinson. After the trade deadline, Pat Riley had the chance to explain why he couldn’t bear to part with them.

“I think there’s a line with any move.

You can’t let go of those two assets because they can become truly great.”
