Patrick Beverley Believes The Chicago Bulls Would’ve Been A Top-5 Team In The East If He Joined Them Sooner

The Chicago Bulls’ 2022-23 NBA campaign came to a disappointing conclusion after the team failed to qualify for the NBA playoffs with a loss to the Miami Heat in the play-in tournament. The Bulls ended their season 40-42 and 10th seed in the Eastern Conference.

Many expected the Bulls to blow up their roster at the trade deadline, but the team had a different plan and decided to stay put instead. Following this decision, the Bulls made a move at the buyout market, signing former Los Angeles Lakers guard Patrick Beverley. 

Beverley wasn’t exactly a needle-mover, but he was overall a positive addition as he provided the team with needed defense, toughness and leadership. With the veteran defensive guard on the roster, the Bulls managed to sustain a record of 13 wins and 9 losses. 

Beverley, who is currently an unrestricted free agent, now reflected on his brief time with the Bulls during an episode of “The Pat Bev Podcast”. Not lacking in confidence, Beverley said the Bulls would’ve been a top-5 team in the Eastern Conference if he had joined them sooner.

“Honestly, I think if I’m there from the beginning of the year we’re a fourth or fifth seed,” Beverley said on his podcast. “When I was there, we lost three games at the buzzer. I’ve understood this team. Like how to be me, but also get the best out of people.”
