Patrick Beverley Rudely Interrupted Michele Roberts Multiple Times During Meeting, Causing Players To Step In Saying Such Disrespect Would Not Be Tolerated

The remaining NBA teams have boycotted their most recent playoff games in the wake of Jacob Blake being shot several times in the back as he entered a car where his three children were seated, and due to the ongoing systematic racism in the United States.

When, during the players’ meeting, Michele Roberts, who is the executive director of the players union, asked to ‘take the mic’ and speak about financial ramifications and losses an Orlando exit would cause, Clippers guard Patrick Beverley rudely interrupted her numerous times (“I pay your salary!”)  to a point that Chris Paul and others had to step in to tell Beverley that such disrespect would not be tolerated.

Per Chris Hayes of Yahoo Sports:

Michele Roberts, the executive director of the players union, asked to have the floor to speak about the financial ramifications of leaving Orlando.

While she was going over the numbers, Clippers guard Patrick Beverley abruptly interrupted her, saying he disagreed with her logic, sources said. Roberts kindly reiterated that these were potential losses the players would suffer, and Beverley interrupted again. Roberts asked politely if she could continue with her point, and Beverley responded, “No, I pay your salary,” sources said.

This caused an uproar with Paul, Haslem and others, who intervened and told Beverley that disrespect would not be tolerated, sources said.
